It amazes me, the mystique about the cap. With the ability to carry over unused cap to the next year, it is really just simple math. The "big" trick is converting high salary into new signing bonus to defer cap use and provide more available cap room in the current year. Howies been doing that the last few years.

Seeing how efficiently Howie has handled the GM job since regaining his position I get more and more impressed. I would bet he has a cap strategy already worked out for the next 3-5 years. In this league cap manipulation is almost as important as talent evaluation and I'm pretty sure he is close to the best in the league. I have no worries about that end at this point. He, from a value standpoint, played the Wentz extension perfectly, making it more expensive for the rams, boys, and the chiefs to sign their young QBs.
