The cash he will earn in his current deal for this year places Jenkins 13 th among safeties.
I took a closer look to see how his cash compensation compared over t,he period 2016-2019 among the 13 top paid safeties this year.
Here are the total cash earned over that period with AP and PB listed next to them from 2016-2018. Alternates excluded
Berry 54.3. 1st All Pro '16, 1st Team PB '16 b/c of injury, career in jeopardy. McCourty 47.5 2nd All Pro '16, 2nd team PB '16 Thomas 47.0 2nd All Pro '17, 2nd team PB '17 Matthieu 44.5 R. Jones 41.0 1st team PB '17 H. Smith 37.5 2nd team PB '16, 1st All Pro '17, 2nd All Pro '18, 2nd PB '18 M. Jenkins 33.0 1st team PB '17 Gibson 27.7 Joyner 25.5 Collins 19.1 1st team PB 2016,2017,2018. 1st All Pro '16 Reid 18.3 Amos 17.1 Randall 17.1

Is he under paid?
He he should be under the top Three and Smith, above Mathieu about the same as Jones, but below Collins. We don't need to do anything, but maybe you add 5 mill to his current deal and years with move of some salary to signing bonus with a little injury protection for ourselves. if he doesn't like that, tough. He's got a good deal.
Well there would have been a gaping hole in the secondary had he gone down with injury last season. The guy never gets hurt so his ability to stay on the field should entitle him to earn a bit extra, don't see an issue with that.
Jenkins will be 31 for this season and 32 for next season, which is the last one on his current deal.
From a purely financial point of view the answer is a clear no, but given Jenkins' play on the field and character off it I'd be fine with adding one year to the existing deal and giving him some money up front.
That sends a signal to players that we look after them.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.
The guy's rare durability & versatility deserves consideration. When the entire secondary was gobbled up the injury cyclone, the guy filled in everywhere. This is a special player - he deserves to be compensated for the kind of reliable flexible production and leadership he's offered the team. His value is taken for granted.
